“We're seeing it statewide. Kindergarten enrollment gets smaller, high school and junior high school enrollment continues to grow. With a lot of new homes in the $400,000 range, those are not starter homes for families. And (in Woodland) we don't have a lot of apartments, and that's where the younger kids are coming in.”
“But trying to interpret what it means for school facilities can be difficult. What will be the needs 20 years from now? Do we put in future conduit (computer cables) that may never be needed?”
“Woodland High has always been an open campus, but next fall it will begin to close. Ninth-graders and 10th-graders will not have that freedom (to leave at lunch).”
